How to Add Music to Your Preschool — no music teacher needed!
Most preschools want to offer music. Very few actually do — and not because they don’t care, but because finding and retaining a qualified music teacher is expensive, complicated, and often simply not possible.
If you’ve ever thought, “We’d love to add music, but we just don’t have a music teacher,” this post is for you.
Preschool directors: your classroom teachers can deliver rich, effective, developmentally appropriate music education — even with zero musical background — when given the right tools!

Why music matters more than most preschools realize
Research in early childhood development consistently shows that music education in the first six years of life has massive benefits and not just for musical ability, but for language acquisition, literacy, math readiness, motor development, and emotional regulation.
Children at this age are extraordinary learners. They are absolute sponges! Their brains are primed for pattern recognition, rhythm, and sound. When music is introduced playfully and consistently during the preschool years, it creates neurological pathways that support learning across every subject.
The window matters.
The preschool years are the single most critical period for music acquisition — yet most programs leave this opportunity on the table simply because they lack a music specialist on staff.
The good news? You don’t need a music specialist. You need the right curriculum.
What a Great Preschool Music Class Actually Looks Like
Effective early childhood music isn’t about recitals or reading sheet music. It’s also not about random songs or overstimulating videos. It’s about building foundational skills through play, movement, and active participation — all things your current teachers already do well.
Every Little Kiddos Music class follows a consistent, research-backed format that builds routine (which young learners thrive on):
- 1. Hello Song, Theme Introduction, & Warm-up Songs
- 2. Full-Body Movement
- 3. Instrument Play — Shakers, Rhythm Sticks, or Bells
- 4. Storytime or Story Song
- 5. Full-Body Movement
- 6. Rockin’ Rhythms — pattern-playing on drums
- 7. Matching Pitch Practice
- 8. Wrap-up & Goodbye song
Each class teaches real music concepts and vocabulary like: steady beat, tempo, dynamics, pitch, and rhythm — all hidden inside the sneaky, sparkly package of singing, movement, and play set to themes that kids love.
Introducing the Little Kiddos Music Video Curriculum
The Teacher Video Curriculum License is the simplest, most complete way to bring music into your preschool classrooms. Children learn directly from Ms. Jenny through pre-recorded, expert-led classes — and your teachers simply facilitate.
Everything teachers need, ready to go

“As a preschool director of a large early childhood center, I am thrilled that Jenny has developed this curriculum. Our school was so fortunate to have her as our music teacher — most preschools do not offer this vital program. With Little Kiddos Music Academy, now you can.”
– Cynthia Chaney, Preschool Director
Common Questions from Preschool Directors
What if our teachers have no music experience at all?
That’s exactly who this curriculum is built for! The video classes are led by Ms. Jenny — your teachers don’t need to know how to sing or play an instrument. They simply press play, help manage the room, and participate alongside the kids.
What supplies do we need?
Classes use simple, affordable instruments: egg shakers, rhythm sticks, wrist bells, a small drum, and occasionally a scarf. All supplies are listed in the Educator Resource Library with an Amazon storefront for easy ordering. Many items can even be homemade. Supplies are also listed on each lesson page and accompanying guide.
How does this work for substitute teachers?
It’s perfect for subs. Because classes are pre-recorded and structured consistently, any adult can run a Little Kiddos Music class without preparation. It’s one of the most reliable substitute lesson plans available for preschool programs.
How is the license structured?
Curriculum access uses a scalable structure for easy use through any learning center. A School License is required for multi-teacher access. All curriculum license options are for one year, with a 10% renewal discount each subsequent year.
Custom pricing available upon request for larger preschool chains.
Individual teacher access or in-home daycares and families have license options as well.
Educator Tips:
The best time to introduce a new curriculum is during summer planning — July and August. Securing a subscription before the school year means teachers can get comfortable with the material before the first day of class. But anytime works! You’ll get access for a full year from whatever time of purchase.
Flexible Year-Round Use: All 40 classes are listed in a suggested August–July sequence, but they can be used in any order and repeated as often as desired. In fact, they should certainly been used more than once as this reinforces concepts and confidence.
Music education doesn’t have to be an expensive line item that requires hiring a specialist!
With the right curriculum, any preschool — regardless of size, budget, or staff background — can offer high-quality, joyful, developmentally rich music classes that children will carry with them for life.
Little Kiddos Music Academy was built specifically for this: to put a 25-year music educator’s expertise directly into your classrooms…with just a push of a button!
