November 2025 – Music Moments
It’s hard to believe this blog is already in its second year! That means even more preschool music ideas, resources, and fun STEM activities for you and your little learners. And, I hope you’re enjoying the facelift for these posts! I finally have time to (occasionally!) do my best at making our resources more user-friendly.
Before diving into this year’s ideas, be sure to visit last year’s November blog post — it’s packed with creative fall songs and activities you’ll still love.
A Little Thank-You Gift for You 🎁
This season of thanksgiving and gratitude feels like the perfect time to say thank you!
Enjoy this free printable: Little Kiddos Music – November Lyrics and Coloring Sheet.
These are some of our favorite November songs!
Teachers — you have full permission (and encouragement!) to share and send these home with students and families. Hopefully parents will discover more of our joyful music along the way!

Looking Ahead with Gratitude 💛
This November, I’m incredibly thankful that the Little Kiddos Music curriculum is now being used by individual preschool teachers and in large early childhood education centers across the country. (We’ve already got both corners covered – Washington state and Florida!) I’m also crazy excited that production is underway on our video curriculum and will be ready to share with the whole world in 2026. The video preschool music curriculum includes forty themed 25-minute music classes. Little kiddos – in schools or at home – can learn music vocabulary and music theory with me!
Creating and sharing this curriculum and these songs has been my dream for over 20 years, and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey.
What are you thankful for this year?
A New Fall Song: “I Have a Little Acorn” 🌰
This year’s new fall song came straight from nature itself! While walking our (mostly sweet) mini-Goldendoodle, Lily, an acorn literally fell right in front of us — instant inspiration! Some creative liberties were maybe taken in the lyrics. (See the adorableness of Lily, below!)

Why I Use Sign Language in Preschool Music 🖐️🎵
As many of you know, babies can sign before they can talk. Sign language is a beautiful addition to early childhood music for so many reasons!
Using even simple ASL signs helps children:
- 🖐️ Enhance communication and express ideas nonverbally.
- 🎵 Deepen understanding of rhythm, melody, and meaning.
- 💡 Support diverse learners and build inclusivity.
- ❤️ Increase focus and confidence while keeping little hands busy.
- 🤝 Encourage connection between children, teachers, and caregivers.
If you’d like to try songs that include simple signs, start with these:
“I’m Thankful” (TikTok) – a newer version that adds more signs and reflection, great for pre-K and kindergarten.
“I Am Thankful” (TikTok) – a classic call-and-response for your youngest learners.
FOR EARS OF ALL AGES:
Here’s what’s been on my November listening list — a mix of cozy classics and reflective sounds:
R. Carlos Nakai’s – The Canyon Trilogy → A perfect listen for Native American Heritage Month; the timbre of the cedar flute instantly encourages deep breaths and relaxation.
Ella Fitzgerald – “Autumn in New York” → Autumnal perfection. (Autumnal – a word I really didn’t learn about until last year!) I thought I knew all Ella Fitzgerald tunes, but this one presented itself to me this season. It is autumnal perfection. The end. That’s all I can say about it. Autumnal. Perfection.
Bing Crosby – “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep” → Yes, it’s from the movie White Christmas, so it often ends up in the Christmas music category, but Bing Crosby’s voice is like spreading pumpkin butter on a piece of toast, and this is such a sweet song to remind us to be thankful for all the things.
Listen here
Erik Satie – “Gymnopédie No. 1” → I have a handful of compositions that I absolutely could listen to every single day of my life and never get tired of.
This piece is on that list. It’s peaceful and introspective and absolutely perfect for matching November’s slower pace. (And if your November is anything but slow, gives this a listen and gift yourself a moment to slow down, listen and breathe deeply.)
NOVEMBER STEM EXTENSION ACTIVITIES
Bring science into the season with these fun, preschool-friendly STEM projects:
Marshmallow Building Challenge
Use toothpicks and marshmallows to create shapes and towers — perfect for the kids’ table! You’ll have perhaps have more marshmallows in the house than normal – courtesy of your sweet potato casserole! And hey, if you don’t eat it, marshmallows are usually on sale for those that do!
Dancing Popcorn Experiment
Mix popcorn kernels, baking soda, and vinegar — then watch them dance!
Cranberry Secret Messages
‘Tis the season for cranberries! Why not embrace it?! Make invisible “spy ink” using baking soda paste and reveal it with cranberry juice! Little Bins for Little Hands is one of my favorite spots, by the way, to find great STEM activities for preschoolers! Big fan!
